a few more interesting things about me

In 2002 I made a trip to Uganda where we identified educational needs that I felt I could address. With the help of partners both in the US and in Uganda I started Uganda Development Initiative,  a non profit that has built primary schools, run a child sponsorship program and built a college that was just recently accredited a university.  I served as its first president and CEO.  Between 2002 and 2012  I made four trips to Uganda leading different service groups to the remote Kanungu region. In 2012 I was doubly honored when one of the buildings we had sponsored was named "Fanton Hall of Faith"  

I have served three times as a Juror for the Oxford Film Festival in Oxford Mississippi.
